Corey Dillon apparently believes he should be in the Patriots Hall Of Fame which is kinda funny to me. He's also apparently enraged at the Bengals for not putting him in theirs which is also funny

My other opinion that’s impossible to “prove” is that Fred was an incredible receiver who could make covered leaping receptions downfield, and it’s stupid Coughlin used him that way so LITTLE. The highlights show he had receiving skills few other backs had but I guess that’s subjective with a small sample size.

yeah I mean most of my argument is based on what I’ve seen anyway hahaha. Fred was an extremely creative runner and lethal open field threat that unfortunately never got to show it with 30 touches a game because the team 1) always had good receivers 2) always split carries with another back to preserve him.

And even still, if MJD ended up being like those other backs and not an elite RB himself, Fred would’ve had several more TDs and a couple thousand more yards and cemented that legacy. He could still run when we shipped him off to New England. it’s all situational but I can’t blame other people who didn’t really watch him for leaning on the stats.

In my opinion Fred was like if you took some of Corey Dillon and some of Marshall Faulk and mixed them together, running style wise. He had approximately the midpoint between their two skillsets., not as powerful as Dillon not as elusive of a receiver as Faulk but some of both. But he was cursed by early injuries and a stubborn old school coach who didn’t design a lot of plays to throw to RBs lol

 

From 2005-2009, he was one of the most dependable backs in the NFL.
