I’m fine with it — the only RBs I feel strongly about making the HOF in the next decade or so are AP, Gore, Shady, and Marshawn, and then after that, there’s a bunch of guys from the same era (Alexander, Fred Taylor, Dillon, Watters, Holmes, etc) that I think you can make a decent enough case for after that

 

Shaun Alexander really won an MVP and then only played like 30 more games

well damn he did average 1500 yards and 17 TDs over a 5 year span

Alexander had a short very high peak so maybe he gets the Terrell Davis treatment

but Dillon v Taylor is a wash stats-wise

 

And we can do the durability argument all day but let’s not conveniently ignore the fact Fred still did as much or more, statistically, as many of the other top 25 backs of all time, in less carries and less time on the field per season

 

one player had 9500 career yards, 100 career rushing tds, and won mvp in 123 games

the other had 11,700 yards, but only 66 tds, played 30 more games and did not win an mvp
