  1. So this is a little inside baseball-ish so apologies. But we're migrating to Marketo which is like..the most robust marketing automation platform out there. So I want to have at least a year's experience in it and certification before bouncing.

So, here's a fun similar situation. My wife started as a coordinator at UMD at like $50k 10 years ago...she's leaving 2 levels higher in job title, making $105k just before they do CoLA's, so probably actually $110k. She should be happy that she basically doubled her salary in a decade through hard work.

Except, now her coordinators start at $70k, and the person taking her current job (which will have less responsibility) has 8 years less experience and has never managed full-time staff, is starting at $95k. Meaning she's underpaid by $20-30k easily by the current standard.

Basically, there's truth to the reality that you should leave your job every 2 years and keep getting raises

  9. Took me almost 12 years to leave my first company and now I'm getting the itch to leave this one after a year lol. Was contacted by a recruiter working on a role that would be a 40% raise lol. Gotta keep moving on.

Job market is rough right now for anything tech related. I've been at my job for almost a year and a half and I've definitely hit my ceiling and there's far less opportunity than I thought when I joined, which isn't 100% their fault though, interest rates fucked a lot of things.

Anyways I've been casually applying to things here and there and can't even get any replies. I had one interview (with a recruiting agency, so I didn't even know the company) and once they told me what it was I said no thanks

This is the reality. You get your big money coming in the door, not as a raise. Even with an internal promotion/title change, it will almost always be less than getting that same promotion/title change elsewhere. Every two years feels a little quick tho… I would be hesitant to hire someone who I see jumping around that often for like 3 jobs in a row.
