Yep, I still agree with everything I posted last night about the Ridley situation (page 3990-3991 for you non psychopaths who don’t change the default 25 posts per page), straight spittin,

and this time I can’t even be mad at the Titans, they’re literally just getting the receivers that are obviously the best receivers to get and not worrying about the price - cause that’s what you DO to develop a QB on a rookie contract.

You don’t bargain bin shop for Kirks and Davis’s until that QB has already proven they can carry a team and is already eating 25% of your salary cap with their second contract. We really jumped the gun on that and assumed Trevor would be that guy when he’s never even played in that high level of an offense before.

And the Titans are literally only paying their Hop/Rid tandem, $5M per year more! That’s it! Fuck age, I’d easily still rather have the latter right now if my entire franchise hinges on a developing QB who just struggled in 2 of his 3 years in the league!

 

I need you to stop putting Kirk in the same class as Davis. Trevor was a completely different QB when he was on the field. He's been more than worth the contract they gave him, and Ridley was absolutely not worth the money he got from Tennessee especially at his age. For that money, I'd rather they just trade for Higgins and pay him. Or trade up and draft a WR. They still have other options, but we don't have to shit on Kirk when he's been carrying that receiving core for the last two seasons and has been a big part of Trevors good moments.

I would agree more, if Kirk wasn’t making almost as much as Ridley just made.

But because of what we signed Kirk, Tee Higgins would actually cost even more than that. I’d be surprised if Tee got locked down for a penny less than $25-$26M a season. He’s younger AND a more productive than Ridley.

So it’s a slap in the face we’re willing to be the only team to pay Kirk like a low end WR1 - but then we clearly weren’t satisfied, to the point we traded a third round pick for his upgrade - but THEN even after that new receiver beat Kirk out in camp and looked great at times when Kirk was out, we still wouldn’t pay him a few mill more than we paid KIRK!

I mean does any of that last paragraph make long-term strategic sense to you? It sounds like we know we overpaid Kirk and are now backpedaling from that move, didn’t wanna make the same mistake twice etc… but it should’ve been seen as a sunk cost now and a necessity to keep our offense even believably competitive next year
