You know I’ve talked a lot of shit but… if we get Ridley back in two days, get Josh Allen extended this year, and the line stays healthy then this was ultimately a good free agent class. I won’t pretend to understand the cap enough to understand how it’s getting done, all I’ll say is it better be getting done, cause if we lose Ridley it’s automatically a D and if we don’t re-sign Allen because we “don’t have enough cap space” it’s an F.

But even hating the Gabe Davis deal, every other deal we made on day 1 was a pretty good bargain, at a position we needed to add competition / a potential starter.

And while I think we are wildly overpaying Scherff and that Cam always gonna be an unreliable pass blocker… I get the argument behind keeping continuity on the line considering -
    1) our center the whole year was getting bulldozed and that hurts everybody else, we did improve that position for cheap, and we also only got a few games to see Ezra in action after Bartsch was so bad we cut him (a mid round pick) mid-season during his rookie deal.

    2) Depth is really, really necessary and last year proved to us we were already thin when Scherff / Cam missed time, I admit it is nice to have 3 tackles and not be forced to draft IOL early

    3) Trevor’s contract year is not the time to shake up the whole offense, we want to evaluate how much he can improve with, and elevate, the offense already in place before we start testing him with too many new faces.

idk. Maybe this line with non suspended Cam, Ezra over Bartsch and Morse over Fortner the whole year, Scherff healthier (??? Big if here), Anton in year two, and Little as a luxury swing tackle IS capable of being a lot better with more reps together. But that’s ONLY if we can keep our best player on defense and our best weapon on offense in the process.

I get Dustin’s post earlier that resigning Ridley could be a risk on its own but my thing is we already traded the 3rd round pick for the fucking guy and then threw it enough to him to where that could’ve been a 2nd round pick. So you better keep that energy and believe in him cause why the fuck would we pay a 3rd round pick for a one year rental? If that’s all we got out of Ridley, well, our offense didn’t improve at all in 2023 so that just makes the whole thing look bad. Either have conviction about the move, and prove to the fans we didn’t waste that valuable pick, and that we were smart to be patient with getting him back up to speed… or don’t make the move.

If he was a bust, yeah, cut bait, but his route running is good enough to have the attention of the whole league. We better be the team to benefit from that if anyone.

Why are you assuming we push for so many more FA players haha

That's 3-4 more guys total. We're in on Calvin already and pursued Chase, Danielle, and Uche during the season. Sheldon and Bud are just former Nielsen players that should be pretty cheap so they make sense as veteran editions if nothing else.

Just do Calvin and that’s it for big moves imo. Uche is as much as I’m willing to spend on a rotational edge and if we wanted to do much more than that we shouldn’t have signed Gabe Davis.

Sheldon is strictly 4-3 so I’m not sure he fits with uour 3-4 diagraming of the roster. But man is that DL of ours BAD if we stay in 3-4.

In a 4-3, we could go Allen / Rankins / Hamilton / Travon and that’s a believably good front four, but then Uche and Bud aren’t good fits as rotational guys.

Danielle would be a big move. The rest wouldn't be though.

Bud had his best season since leaving Pittsburgh in this scheme

Chase Young is also too rich for us

Why do we need to make more moves before we’ve signed Ridley or Allen

my overall opinion on that hasn’t changed. We’ve already spent more than I could imagine us spending while giving the middle finger to our best talent

    I don’t care if it’s cheap,

a few million here is the difference between Allen’s franchise tag and getting $30M of a contract’s guaranteed money out the way.

A few million there is the difference between signing Calvin Ridley and signing Gabe Davis

This may come as a total shock but at no point did I say or suggest we do that in spite of Josh or Calvin.

  23. Randall Mentzos

    Jags 3-0** Prestigious

So yeah every few million dollars move hurts and the $13M to a third receiver when we’re already planning on the other two not being rookies REALLY hurts. Morse, Darby, good moves. Restructuring Scherff and Cam, risky but fine. Let’s not go overboard with building a team through contracts and not the draft

Signing Bud Dupree is not building through contracts lol
