In my humble opinion it’s 50/50 whether Ridley was just rusty + needed to develop rapport with Trevor and there’s a WR1 dawg in there, versus, that’s as good as he’s gonna get cause he’s not getting any younger and his skillset is too soft to beat press coverage

Personally I thought the tag made the most sense cause it gave us a year to add another WR who actually can beat physical press coverage… and/or see if Ridley truly is capable of becoming one of those speed receivers whose agility makes him untouchable.

a two year sample size would’ve felt way more clear cut for me to make a decision on Ridley than just the one year… because 1) he did have a lot of legitimate reasons to struggle at times, especially going straight to “all the defensive attention is on me”, Kirk injury REALLY allowed teams to hyper focus on Ridley 2) he does have some route running skills and nuances I haven’t seen on this team since Jimmy Smith.

I'm not surprised the Texans aren't being splashy because I think things like Tee Higgins/Saquon Barkley being dangled to them were media bait or whatever but I do think they're kinda blowing it right now

I assume we won't use him as poorly as y'all did but i'm waiting to see the money on that one

Young QB who sat and delivered his "first" year, a bunch of young rookie contract WR's through the draft, excellent backfield, pair of young good TE's. Damn.

 

Tagging was definitely the ideal result, but yeah I pretty much just have to speak on it from the perspective of the Jags being past that option now
