Matt, I cannot for the life of me understand why you talk yourself into every move we make haha

$13 million dollars AAV for a WR3, on a team with cap issues that can’t even resign its own best players, in a year you can easily draft a better receiver without trading up and pay them $4M AAV or less

Is a really confusing and unstrategic decision

 

Gabe Davis: 2.66 Catches Per Game / 44 Yards Per Game / .42 TDs per game / $13 million AAV before incentives
Kendrick Bourne: 3.10 Catches Per Game / 40 Yards Per Game / .24 TDs per game / 6.5 million AAV before incentives

Really feel like we shouldn’t be ignoring our cap situation when we discuss this. How are we not extending Allen OR Ridley but then making milquetoast splashes that excite nobody in FA like this

I get that you WANT a receiver at 17 but backing yourself into HAVING to take a WR at 17 is not a good move. Lazard got 11, Renfrow is 16, OBJ 15. Gabe Davis for 13 is not bad at all.

We aren't extending Ridley because we don't want to spend a 2nd round pick. And we are extending josh.

Legette is 23 and has had one year of even remotely DRAFTABLE production. Acting like he's a home run pick is wild. I like him but simmer down haha

That one year of tape is easily enough for me to like him more than Gabe Davis, who is a… slow deep threat???? Like wtf even IS Davis. I’m not convinced Josh Allen isn’t the only reason he has good numbers!

 

Packers got Gabe Davis production from 2 second round picks a 4th rounder and a 5th rounder

 

After seeing these other DTs sign, I feel really good about the madubuike extension

and yeah, to me the Gabe Davis signing has very little upside at that price and a lot of potential sadness.

 

Davis gets half his production every year from like two big games. The rest of the season he’s just a guy

 

I do kinda agree with that. I'm really just not sold on Gabe Davis as a player altogether. But in the theory of it...I think the signing is okay. In a vacuum thinking about a team that has Christian Kirk and ALLEGEDLY will have Calvin Ridley

 

Zay went for 82/820/5 with us. He was MUCH worse than Gabe both as a pro and a prospect.

I think you’re just looking at Gabe’s numbers and saying “see, good receiver”

his numbers are vastly inflated by Josh Allen. I 1000 percent don’t believe he gets even 75% of the yards or even 50% of the touchdowns if he doesn’t have the best deep ball throwing / highest TD scoring QB aside from Mahomes
