Jags list isn’t that much better lol. Foye Oluokun was a good one. Evan Engram was a good one. Those can get A grades because we actually did match value, need, talent on both.

Kirk is so far overpaid but he’s Trevor’s security blanket so I’ll count him. Ezra Cleveland ended up being a bargain so I’ll count him. Those can be B’s. Kirk’s contract does have outs if he can’t recreate 2022, and Cleveland cost a 6th round pick and one of the lowest salaries of a young starting guard in the NFL.

If both Darious and Ridley walk can’t count those. Scherff needs to be better, now, to be worth all that money. Not a fan of any of the interior DL guys we signed. Brandon McManus immediately made us regret letting Riley Patterson go. Zay Jones hit his ceiling which is like, 800 yards and 8 touchdowns and then promptly hit a woman.

Our best pass rushers and our best depth guy all were drafted. Our best corner and best safety, the ones we’re keeping, drafted. Our highest upside offensive tackle on this otherwise disappointing line, drafted. QB, RB, our other good linebackers, drafted.

 

And this is the best the Jaguars have done with free agent acquisitions since… god damn, the FIRST coughlin era. Mike Peterson (signed in 2003) and AJ Bouye and Calais Campbell (signed in 2016) are the only free agents I can remember really working out in the 20 years before Doug Pederson.

Mark Brunell, Jimmy Smith, Keenan McCardell, Kyle Brady, Leon Searcy, Carnell Lake were ALL really good free agent signings by Tom Coughlin. (I suppose he deserves credit for Campbell and Bouye and Brad Nortman his second time around too.)

Drafted pretty well too, taking pro bowlers Tony Boselli (‘95), Kevin Hardy (‘96), Fred Taylor (‘98), Marcus Stroud (‘01) and John Henderson (‘02) in the first round through Coughlin’s tenure (as well as Fernando Bryant who was good early on). Our only bad first round pick 95-02 was Renaldo Wynn who was… a decent run stopper. Also got Pro Bowlers Tony Brackens & Aaron Beasley day two in the ‘96 draft.
