Yeah this is the speculation I’ve been hearing from Eagles reporters since the season ended too. Absolute goat

I know they’ve invested so much in both Carter and Davis, but I really do think they’re going to add a veteran to the room. Carter and Davis have yet to show they can handle the workload of a full season, let alone put on a full season’s worth of good film (especially Davis). Also, both Davis and Williams have been better run defenders than pass rushers to this point in their careers so the Eagles definitely need another DT who can reliably rush the passer alongside Carter, even if it’s just for obvious passing situations

While I do think they can find a cheaper veteran who can do that in free agency, I just can’t forget about how much the Eagles had invested in both Cox and Malik Jackson back in 2020, neither of whom were on rookie contracts like Carter and Davis are (obviously) and that still didn’t stop them from signing Hargrave in free agency that year

Despite their needs at linebacker, safety, and even right guard, I won’t be surprised if their biggest splash is at DT. Howie loves the trenches more than his own family
