His HOF speech was all spite and zero gratitude. That doesn’t seem like a guy who’s truly deep down happy haha. But I guess I am speculating.

 

Yeah, we've definitely seen players take a little less (maybe 10%, or take a 1yr deal vs a 3yr deal) to play for a contender, but becuase of the rookie salary cap, basicially every player on their first real deal should take the absolute largest contract over all other considerations. Third contract is where you can decide to take less.

Thing is, how many of the top 5-7 teams (who have that 15% SB shot) have the cap space to pay free agents big time?

49ers signed Hargrave. Chiefs got Taylor. Dont think any of the other conference champ teams had a big signing.

I’d probably “take less” in the sense of, if I’m happy and comfortable with a team and have my family settled somewhere and get a fair offer to stay there, might prefer that to fully maximizing wealth on the open market

better comparison is music. I would ten thousand percent take a $100k advance but a chance to build a lasting career off my own creativity, over a $500k advance but we keep the rights to your music and it has to be basic ass commercial music
