Jamal should be in the hall

CJ? Eh… congrats on the 2K season son but he wasn’t creative, that was just pure 4.24 speed, and I’m def Jags biased on this one cause I think both Fred AND MJD were better overall and they proved it in most of our games against them, even though CJ has the highest yards in a season.

Tbh though Fred and MJD combined for over 2500 yards and set a record in 2006 lol so it’s not out of the question one of them coulda got close to 2K if they weren’t sharing the rock with each other

I used to get so annoyed watching Chris Johnson rack up yards just running straight and defenses stupidly over pursuing him every time instead of ever actually adjusting their angle and respecting his speed lol

Jamal Lewis was a lot like Marshawn Lynch, very stocky and powerful, angry running style, but he also used really good footwork to stay clean and maintain leverage in the open field. Except he had a whole extra few years on top of Lynch and still was rippin off long runs like this as a 33 year old Cleveland Brown.

This is something that I do like about Nielsen in that he said he'll be catering the scheme to the talent.

A starter at corner is anything but a luxury pick. This perspective is how teams stay bad. You don't lock yourself in to taking a position no matter what. I also don't care if we scare anyone or not at receiver. The goal is Trevor becoming the guy that scares people. And either way, we can get a WR later too.

It was both. We literally had TWO games where at one point we had one single substitution that we could've made in the secondary. Walker is going to play inside more so we need another EDGE/hybrid, plus IDL.

That's not true though. At all. WR1 is a role, X receiver is a type.

Well yeah, that's what he is.

Yeah, we also see a great WR in the 2nd and beyond every year as well.

Quinyon Mitchell vs. Marvin Harrison Jr. - 1rec 8yds

Kool-Aid McKinstry vs. Malik Nabers x2, Brock Bowers, Brian Thomas Jr. x2, Ladd McConkey, Roman Wilson, Xavier Worthy x2, Adonai Mitchell, Zakhari Franklin - 8recs 113 yds

Terrion Arnold vs. Malik Nabers, Brock Bowers, Brian Thomas Jr., Ladd McConkey, Roman Wilson, Xavier Worthy x2, Adonai Mitchell, Zakhari Franklin - 6recs 70yds

Kamari Lassiter vs. Malik Nabers, Marvin Harrison Jr., Luther Burden x2, Troy Franklin, Emeka Egbuka, Xavier Legette x2, Jermaine Burton, Ricky Pearsall, Quentin Johnston, Jalin Hyatt - 6rec 68yds

Nate Wiggins vs. Xavier Legette, Josh Downs, Keon Coleman, Devontez Walker, Johnny Wilson - 7recs 100yds

Cooper DeJean vs. Marvin Harrison Jr., Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Emeka Egbuka, Roman Wilson, - 2rec, 27yds

This is like you complaining about a Subaru Impreza when you currently don't have a car at all.

    The rivalry is back on

My main argument against Fred Taylor is that he’s a 1x Pro Bowl, 0x 1st Team, 1x 2nd Team All-Pro player

Gotta adjust for era rather than compare counting stats of someone like Marshawn and he’s pretty solidly not one of the cream of the crop of his era

also, I think it’s a rule that if your listed nickname on PFR is “Fragile _____”, you’re automatically not a HOF player

yeah, but it’s also very valid that what him and Kris Richard are doing probably isn’t as man heavy as it’s been made to sound. Cause it’s not what they’re talking about now and it’s also not what Kris Richard has done with secondary coaching before.

I’m not locking myself into a position. I’ve named 4-5 positions that I think are better to focus on than CB. Just cause we have a good idea what our team will do doesn’t mean I have to try to justify it from that angle, I don’t think it’s the best way.

I mean name a QB in history who made history without a scary talent at WR.

Even Brady wasn’t really BRADY until he got to work with Moss and then Gronk.

name me a QB in history who performed at his best and put up the numbers that made him famous, with a Cam Robinson or worse player blocking their blind side.

It doesn’t exist. Trevor isn’t gonna be that guy unless we give him the kind of weapons and blockers that show him what a truly advanced pro offense even looks like. We need to show him what kind of slow-developing reads and pre-snap changes and non verbal communications are possible in a highly competent offense, so that he can take that next level and start doing that stuff faster, and THEN after 3-4 years of that he might be good enough at it to coach new young cheap dumb receivers and blockers himself to suit what his offensive preferences and tendencies are. That’s how you build up a franchise quarterback to be a true every year team leader.

but we can’t provide that environment for him to even learn how to do Tom Brady / Aaron Rodgers stuff if we have a shitty pocket and unreliable receivers.

reading way too much into him being used as an example in a quote.

Alright fine we need corner depth. Not the same as needing to make a decision about getting a #1 guy.

the X receiver is your primary receiver. This one you’re just not using the language in a way that’s consistent with what an X receiver is in the league. 99% of the best receivers of all time are X receivers. Yes, the X receiver is a role, and it requires a certain type of blended physicality and suddenness to be able to handle it. Some WR2 or WR3 is not gonna be a good X.

genuine question - is this rare or are these the sort of numbers you could cherry pick from the best corners in every draft class?

Allen Robinson was once a great X receiver. Had that one year with the Jags and a couple with the Bears. Dude was underrated. I’m so bummed that he was cooked by the time he finally got to play with a good QB

All of this is “small market team without any deep storied history or a high volume of playoff success” stuff

so obviously I have to 100% disagree with the lucky Colts fan who has always gotten to root for “good old boy” quarterbacks and actually MOVED to a small market from a bigger more historic market and never gotten “small market team” treatment as a result
