I’m not going to speak on players accused of murder, that’s a lot more messy and less clear cut than, say, a player who abuses women. A lot of players come from bad neighborhoods and envy for their new lifestyle of wealth can put them in some dangerous situations. Like, Marvin Harrison allegedly killed a guy in the hood of north Philly too but we never found out enough about that to know if it was self defense or what. I know if I’m an athlete and some wannabe thug that didn’t like me in high school pulls a gun on me I’m shooting first.

 

Shit, Kendrick Lamar admitted to killing a guy in retaliation for his brother’s murder, on record, and no one is judging him as a “murderer”. Cause growing up in Compton, where you can’t trust the police, and gang activity is everywhere, and there’s very little resources to keep kids out of trouble… every high school aged kid is pressured / borderline forced to associate with illegal activity to protect themselves. That is a totally different story than what most of us experienced

My point is unless we know for a fact whether it was self defense or not, it’s not worth speculating. We’re all privileged in the sense that we didn’t have to grow up worrying about defending ourselves from getting killed like some football players did.

 

Love a good “Player A is better than Player B” argument. Not enough of those in football discourse

when I led a site redesign at my last job, the amount of time spent on the About Us and Leadership pages relative to the amount of traffic they got was absurd

 

I kinda get it because at least the leadership page, it's the important people's face right on the site so you want it to be legit. What bugged me is we finally got passed getting literally 26 leaders to approve it, and then after THAT...the dude changed it.

Compared to February/March/early April mock draft articles, Twitter account fake free agency rumors, QB ranking engagement bait, arguing against the same talking heads making bad football takes, and most of whatever else happens during this time period, yeah it’s a fun football discourse

 

to be clear if you kill someone in self-defense it isn't considered "murder" so if we're going to be pedantic about these conversations, lets at least be correct as well lol
