if they are posting about job opportunities, i just message them and tell them why i think i'd be a good fit for the role. if they're working for a recruiting agency, they get paid if you get hired, so if they think you're a good fit they'll send you through to the company. if they're a hiring manager for the company, they may be less likely to respond.

but basically the etiquette is "shoot your shot respectfully, and advocate for yourself honestly" and if they think an opportunity could fit you, they may respond. i haven't had much luck with this route, but my best friend has gotten all his jobs through linkedin.

the guy who lives across the street from us had his Honda mini-van stolen last night. Apparently there is a flaw in the Honda security systems where there is a device that can connect the key fob to the engine and start the car as long the fob is within a specific distance. That is wild.

It's common in some Hyundai and Kia models too. My sister and BIL had their Kia stolen right out of their driveway at like 9:30 at night (we were all still awake and hanging out in the living room with the lights on). It ended up being 3 teenagers. Apparently after they stole it they were involved in a hit-and-run, and someone saw it and followed them to an HEB parking lot, where the kids scattered and ran.

 

+ A degree in computer science would help. In Canada anyway lol.
