I think circumstance matters and Slater being the player he is but also being a contributor to rings helps his case vs Hester (who does deserve to be in!) and Tasker (who does as well!) who did not win rings

It sucks but it is what it is. There are lots of players who never sniff the hall without rings or at least give themselves a much harder time without em

 

With that said yes I am fully expecting Slater to not make the HOF

 

Some people get in the HOF, some don’t

At the end of the day it's pretty silly because we spend all season not giving a fuck what football writers think (as we should not give a fuck) and then when it comes to who's in the Hall Of Fame we all of a sudden care

Only thing I care less about than the PFHOF is the Baseball HOF

 

It's just so remarkably stupid to have a hall-of-fame and completely ignore certain position groups because they don't show up on Sport Center's Top-10

Should Eli Manning be a first ballot HOF or in the HOF at all?

 

I'm gonna have to opt out of that one as my opinion on Eli and the Manning family has gotten me in trouble in the past haha

 

Based on precedence he is first ballot, in my heart he is not first ballot and idk if I'd put him in at all but it's hard to argue against it based on who's in. But idk. Maybe I'd still put him in. I haven't really thought much about it

 

I like the Pro Football HOF. It’s framing of “which 5 players are we going to celebrate this year” makes it feel both exclusive (unlike NBA) and not the absolute shit show of writers feeling like they need to play God on the yes/no decision like in baseball

I also like the All-Pro teams since the NFL can’t find a way to do it well themselves with Pro Bowl selections

I can separate that pretty easily from weekly TaEkS from the same bad sports personalities every week

I LOVE how All-Pro teams are handled for sure

Yeah, I don’t personally think Eli’s play warrants HOF consideration nor is it even a fringe case but it doesn’t bother me if they decide they want to honor him for the 2 rings and being one of the 10 or so most recognizable players in the sport for a decade or so

Eli 100% gets in. Its fine to not think he is worthy of it but silly to argue he won't actually get in.

 

Considering how lukewarm the takes have unanimously been in here, it wouldn’t surprise me if it takes longer than we all assume

After thinking about it I think he'd be in my personal HOF as well, not just for the 2 rings but for kinda just being a madman in 2011 especially the postseason run to get to that ring in the first place

Probably not first ballot in my personal HOF but who cares about which ballot it is it's still the same jacket
