Yeah this, if Aldi ever improves their selection I’ll shop there but I’m not going to two fucking stores lol. I feel like another whole two hours spent going to a whole other store is a higher “cost” than the like $10-$20 you save

If you want to save money on groceries just get good at manipulating self checkout, that mall cop at the front of the store is not watching everyone scan every item. They didn’t get that assignment for being a good cop or a good security guard lol

 

2 hours?? going to 2 stores takes me an additional 20 minutes tops and saves me $20-30 a week. And a lot of weeks I don’t even have to go to 2 stores.

Trader Joe's is pretty cheap if you live near a gentrified neighborhood.

 

One time we went shopping together. I did all my shopping, checked out, drove home, unpacked, made food, had a drink, drove back, and still waited 20 minutes lol

 

Almost every self check out now has cameras above it, and a scale in the bagging area to know if you put the right item there. I’ve scanned 2 things quickly then put the wrong item down first before and it alerted an associate immediately

 

Well you must not have ADHD or autism lmao. Grocery stores are overstimulating as hell and I constantly get distracted and momentarily forget the next thing I was going to get

Every Aldi I’ve been to is not walking distance from another store

Randall I’m not trying to be mean but shouldn’t the default assumption be that someone is neurotypical and would not match up with your experiences?

 

your shopping is VERY DIFFERENT from my shopping though. You will literally eat plain rice and a boiled soup with no salt in it

 

I’ve definitely never “forgotten” to scan the 12 pack of soda on the bottom rack of my cart

This happened to me once when I moved my canvas bag over the scanner - it triggered something on the system and the worker had to reset it

What I get away with is using the bag to collect my groceries as I'm shopping (because no stores around here have baskets anymore) and then I surreptitiously leave an item or two in the bag without scanning it

 

But I was also including the drive to and from another store and unpacking and putting those groceries away also in the “2 hours”
