Well who else do the Bengals have that they can actually rely upon behind Chase? Tyler Boyd is an impending free agent and I’m pretty sure he’s 30 at this point. Safe to say his best years are behind him.

I get the thought process, but just because Burrow is one of the best QBs in the league doesn’t mean the Bengals should make his job more difficult.

I understand using that money or cap to improve to OL or defense, but good offensive linemen don’t often hit the market. I mean, they splurged on offensive linemen a couple years ago and the same problem exists because they signed a bunch of mid guys.

I just don’t see why they wouldn’t do everything in their power to bring back Higgins. They have no one to speak of at WR behind Chase, nor do they have a good TE. I don’t think they should go creating another need for themselves

 

The Bengals have nearly $60m in cap space lol

They can bring back Higgins and still have the fins to improve the rest of the roster

I also think, from a culture perspective, it’s whacky that they did the shit they did with Jessie Bates, who was a good player for them and just had a great season with the Falcons, and now they might do the same thing again with Tee Higgins

These are homegrown players that they drafted! Reward them by keeping them around!

Take it from a Texans watcher: it definitely backfires to move on that fast. Players quit wanting to stick around and you end up taking massive L's longterm. It took a while for them to rebound from that.

I more think of Glover Quin and Brandon Brooks going to make room for other FAs that weren't as good, the way interactions went with AJ80 in general (regardless of the timing it could've been handled better), and then that leading to a culture where we have Hopkins wanting a trade (and having to bring in Cooks for near the same price) and are having to release Watt

 

Vibes matter! I understand the whole “The NFL is a business,” but who is the last legit good or great that the Bengals drafted, not named Joe Burrow, that they gave an extension to?

Genuinely asking for anyone with an answer. Is it actually Joe Mixon? Because that would be truly laughable.

 

Letting Quin leave and replacing him with Ed Reed was Bob McNair's fault

Letting Brandon Brooks go was O'Brien's fault (and not taking Brooks' anxiety issue seriously)

On that Miller/Osweiler free agency day, the thing I was most upset about was losing Brooks

I didn't mind getting Osweiler just cuz whatever, they've been fine with bad QBs and it's not my money, and I liked Lamar Miller a lot, but losing Brooks HURT and had me heavily questioning the future

 

Man, O'Brien was so awful

damn near every player that left got better for their next team.. from DJ Swearinger to Charles Omenihu, etc etc... hell even Clowney really.

Just the epitome of a coach that was bad vibes

 

Even Ryan Mallett won some big games lmao

 

I miss Brandon Brooks. Dude was legitimately one of the best guards in the league with the Eagles. Earned every bit of his contract in free agency and earned the extension he got with the team in 2019. So bummed his career got derailed by injuries in 2020 and 2021. Hope he’s doing well.
