I'd extend the midwest to the foothills of the rockies...because everything east of that is drive-through/fly-over stuff for sure. And arguably that is true for everything west of the Appalachians, but I still feel like cultutrally there is a lot in the old industrial towns of OH/PA/MI that is just very different than most of the Midwest.

I’m confident that the Eagles are going to extend DeVonta Smith. I would be stunned if they didn’t. I know they’re paying AJ Brown a ton of money, but the way his contract is structured makes his cap hits manageable until 2026. Brown counts for just $12.4m against the cap this year and $26.5 next year before his cap hit balloons to $41.5m in 2026, which he will not play at that number. They’ll either extend him to bring that number down, or they’ll cut/trade him to bring it down.

Smith is entering the final year of his contract, then they have the fifth-year option available to them for the 2025 season. Knowing how Howie structures his contracts, if Brown is on the team still in 2026, he’ll likely be playing for around $25m or so while Smith would probably play for less than $20m in the first couple years of his extension just like Brown has last season and this upcoming one.

Bengals would be foolish to just franchise tag Tee Higgins for this season and then let him walk simply because “Oh, we need to pay Ja’Marr Chase tho.”

 

Tag and trade seems more realistic than letting him play this year on it and then lose him for good
