It's super duper fun that my job is basically just getting yelled at all day by people for things not working the way they wanted, despite me having next to no control over how anything works.

 

dave please don't take this in a rude way but have you thought about getting a different job? I know it's not as simple as that but you seem to very much not like your job

 

So I pivoted my career last year from a focus on Email Marketing and Campaign Management, to more Marketing Operations which is focused more on managing the technology and processes within a Marketing Department.

A MOps role, especially a senior one, has a much higher ceiling of pay than a standard channel owner like email marketing, so the plan has been to stick it out for a year or two, build up my MOps resume and then make a move.

I really like the work I do and the projects I'm on, but the way our company is set up there's basically the director level that's been together for 25 years who are seemingly preventing the 20-30 marketers they hired since 2020 to do anything productive, so it gets very frustrating very quick.

 

Executives/directors are the shittiest part of every company. holding it back even. fuckers

 

Because they've all been together for like 25 years, from multiple different companies too, they truly believe "we're like a family" which just results in WILDLY unprofessional behavior.

 

People need to change their whineset into the grind set

Ugh, one of the most toxic mindsets ever. Only even applies negatively towards employees too.

 

I love my company. We hit a record high in sales for last year, so they were nice and got us pizza.
