our tax return was ~$6,500 last year

What changes did you make for it to be that different?

 

yeah my new job threw us into a higher tax bracket last year and our return went from being like $4-5k to like $120 lmao

the face i made in the accountants office made him stop and ask me if something was wrong

 

the only major change is that since my wife was a grad student still in 2022 and was not in 2023, she didn't get the student tax credit

we both got raises last year, but otherwise nothing crazy
