Cam is annoying as shit. Consider me officially doubling down on “Cam overrated”

hes still the third best running QB of all time (well, maybe fourth if Fields can keep a starting job) and had the third best rookie QB season of all time (fuck y’all Stroud and RG3 rookie years were better) but that don’t give him carte blanche to shit on QBs who are cleaner passers than he was. Cam had a pretty deep ball but he didn’t throw the whole route tree well and I’m tired of his sexist arrogant ass talking shit

 

Yeah, basically the only time I've seen Cam Newton be right in the last like, 5 years, was when that HS dumb-ass trashed talked him at that tournament...and even then he uses that broke ass font to tweet, so was he really right?

 

All I saw this week was something about Brock Purdy being the 10th best player on the 49ers. Is that it?

 

He had a "game manager" thing earlier this season too. Honestly, his argument is insane...there's like 2 QBs that meet his standard (Mahomes and Lamar)?

"What I did say is Brock Purdy is a game manager. That's not hate. That's just what I feel to be facts. I still reserve the right to say this: To be labeled a game changer, Brock Purdy has to be the best player on the offensive side of the ball. And that's not the case.

Lamar obviously an easy answer; Mahomes too, even as good as Kelce is. Hard to argue Burrow, Hurts, Dak, Tua, etc are any better than their top WRs.

edit: Hilariously, maybe Allen qualifies for it over Burrows/Hurts/etc, but only because his WR1 is shittier than theirs.

I think it’s more than 2 but still pretty limited.

 

He’s been repeatedly dying on this hill of chastising Purdy like what he’s doing isn’t impressive regardless of the raw talent he lacks

10th best player on such a stacked roster might not be way off but
1) that doesn’t mean any other QB could replicate that. If he’s as bad as people say then why is the guy that beat out Cam his backup? Are we gonna act like Jimmy G was just as good?

2) tbh it might not even be an insult lol. Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, the whole defensive line - 49ers FILLED with All-Pro talent.

3) it doesn’t make him any less IMPORTANT to the team having the success it’s having

4) Cam is not the one to talk lol. I’d argue he had more years as a “game manager” than as an actually top 10 QB. Matter of fact 2015 is the ONLY year Cam put up Brock Purdy numbers lol

 

This is why I was like “idk that seems about right. Roster is nasty.”

 

Yeah, in context Cam is literally going out of his way to publicly discredit the dude multiple times for attention, and he didn’t mean it as objectively as you or I might mean it

 

Cam’s not even the 52nd best player on a roster right now, so

 

Aint no world Dak is a more legit QB than Lamb is a WR. Same for Tua/Hill and Hurts/Brown.

Allen is probably in the Diggs category where their QB is probably better than them comparatively, despite both dudes not being better than guys that wouldnt qualify in Cam's silly system.

 

that's such a weird parameter because like, pretty much no one could be considered anything but a game manager on the Eagles except Mahomes but ANYONE would be a "game changer" on the Patriots

Yep, truly absurd list of criteria that he invented to trash a dude. Especially funny when it was literally CMC who kept Cam's career alive a year or two longer than it should have.

edit: Actually, another dude who fits the bill, CJ Stroud probably. Nico Collins is close, and they were injured at the same time, but I'd give the rub to the QB in the same way the Allen/Diggs thing goes.
