Work pet peeve: every restaurant I have ever worked in serves appetizers with a lot of sauce but one or two small pieces of bread

every chef has the same reasoning - “we don’t want people filling up on bread before the entrees”. Every chef also acts like a total baby about it when you come to them in the middle of dinner service saying a customer wants more bread.

perfect example of servers getting blamed for something that was the kitchen’s call. I don’t give a fuck if you yell at me chef, I can’t make tables stop asking for more bread and it is my job to get it for them.

Maybe try having some fucking foresight and realize if you’re gonna include bread you might as well put a lot, LITERALLY EVERY TABLE that doesn’t have a gluten allergy asks for more.

Don’t get pissy with me about a stupid menu decision. If you don’t do bread service then stop putting apps on the menu that invite people to ask for it. If you put a bread-centric appetizer on the menu then be prepared to get a lot of tickets that just say “bread” on them for every table. Pick one or the other.
