Let's see how they do without Ben Johnson.

Mahomes is already better than Brady. I've seen enough.

He might not WIN as much as Brady did, and he probably won't since he played for 20 years. But yeah.

Mahomes's Hall of Fame career has topped any 1 of Brady's Hall of Fame careers IMO, the issue is Brady had like 2-3 HOF worthy careers in his time

But that's why saying "better" is better than saying "greater" so I agree with you

been saying it, eye test above all baby

yeah early Brady's success very clearly had a lot to do with Belichick being an absolute defensive mastermind and the team also drafting several HOF level talents at every level of the defense for years. And that still was showing up later on, such as the Pats / Seahawks SB where Belichick predicted they were gonna run a wrinkle route on the goal line and had his slot CB already well-coached to not worry about coverage and blow that block the fuck up.

Late Brady is the Brady I'd be more afraid of but even still, I'm afraid of Patrick Mahomes the exact same way. They're both inevitable... one of them is just doing spin moves and throwing the ball with his eyes closed lol. And honestly the receivers Mahomes is throwing to this year? That eliminates the "well Brady didn't have as many weapons!" argument.

Yeah, expecting to just be back in the NFC championship game is dumb. I’m not expecting it. This felt very lightning in a bottle. I hope Campbell can get them up again next year and bring us back, but it’s gonna be tough with the rest of the division improving too.

I have faith he can do it, I’m just very nervous about replacing Ben Johnson.

Mahomes literally entered the league with numbers that were very close to Tom Brady's best year, lol. KC didn't have a strong defense until recently, he made their team immediately known for offense.

The one obstacle to becoming "greater" than Tom Brady is longevity, the thing that made Brady "great" was his extreme off field commitment (which was probably very unhealthy in his personal life) and committing his entire offseason regimen and diet to things that will, like, cryogenically preserve him like a mummy lol. Mahomes has that uphill battle in terms of STAYING as good and as healthy as Brady did for over 20 years if we're talking about "Greatest" and including the lore on top of the talent.

    But he is better.

  12. Yeah, starting to get vibes that we will let Evero go somewhere else. Nothing has really suggested we’ll let him walk but the reporting seems to be opening the door slightly.

It's weird because the peak of Brady was in an era that was very different offensively but at the same time played in the same era as Mahomes

I think it's fair to compliment Mahomes for being at that level so immediately, I don't think it's fair to dismiss Brady's seasons in a more defense-heavy, run-heavy league though

All the more reason to credit Belichick's defense though.

And also to be fair the "new era" had essentially already been ushered in, Peyton / Kurt / Brees were already putting up those madden numbers and forcing defenses to respect the spread offense. By the time Tom was on that level, two of those teams were already doing it with new quarterbacks (Marc Bulger & Philip Rivers) and Brees / Kurt were still doing it on different teams (NO / ARI). Before 2007 it was still very much hotly contested who was better between Tom, Peyton, and whoever the third best QB at the time was (Warner early on, Palmer in 2006, etc)

IMO the current era starts in the 2014 season after Peyton whined about the Seahawks and Mel Blount/Ty Law/Richard Sherman rule got tripled down on, that drastically changed how teams were allowed to play defense

Other than the multiple playoff years with Roman also abandoning the run lol its just crazy to me that Harbaugh never has to take any blame for his team's awful gameplans

  23. I hate this lol and it’s all I see because of Panthers fans.

SF going to the SB does NOT mean we should’ve hire Wilks. Reich not working out does NOT mean we should’ve hired Wilks.

But when you operate as poorly as the Panthers have been, you open yourself up to this stuff. So it’s fair game I suppose. Still dumb overall.

comparing Tom to Kurt isn't really a fair one though.

Imagine if the Bledsoe injury never happens and Tom never gets to take advantage of that elite Belichick defense, and instead hangs around on the bench for years on different teams before another coach finally recognizes his magic potential.

Then he fucking BALLS OUT in his late 20s and has the best statistical seasons a QB has ever had to date (Warner's 2000 was arguably just as impressive for that era as Brady's 2007 was) but 3 years later has a season-long injury (like, say, one of Brady's ACL tears), and then since it's only been 3 years and you're already over 30 and you just lost a superbowl (like, say, Brady's 2011 loss to the Giants)... the team just decides to draft MARC BULGER and move on??

so then you get thrown behind a horrible offensive line in NYG, get hurt again (Tom’s second long injury?) but they also just drafted Eli Manning so of course the young kid gets the shot

and now you're 36, everyone thinks you're washed and done, and you go to Arizona and have two MORE elite af seasons there

That was Kurt Warner. Circumstance is the only reason he doesn't have the stats of other HOFers.
