I agree. I was just saying you have to do more as a coach than just have these good vibes everyone thinks you need to be successful.

 

The other part I disagree with Campbell is his post-game speech and the part about this maybe being their only chance or whatever.

He isn’t necessarily wrong. It’s really hard to make it this far. But the Lions are going to be really good for at least a couple more seasons imo. The Packers look kinda scary in that division but so do the Lions! I won’t be surprised at all if they’re back in the NFCC again in the next 2-3 years.

The "dominant offense / poor defense" combo isn't sustainable though. They really gotta get better on that defensive side of the ball. Including coaching.

 

Losing Ben Johnson will hurt a lot. Hopefully they find a good replacement if he leaves.

I think the best way to give yourself another chance is to treat the team like this opportunity is not guaranteed again and they're gonna have to work their asses off to make it happen again

It's the teams that take it for granted and assume they can go back anyway that turn to dust

 

I prefer that message than the alternative though. We see far too often young teams get a little success and start believing they're entitled to success as opposed to working even harder to finish it off.

Kiiiiinda feels like that with the Eagles this year, def felt that way for that good Jags team. There's been others.

I agree somewhat about the Eagles, but they definitely are a good example of how it’s not guaranteed that teams just pick up where they left off. Can’t copy/paste last season’s results to this one.

With that said, the Eagles didn’t have the cap space to address all their player departures and they got just about nothing out of their rookie class.

As @GreatBeardRecs keeps saying, you can’t stay complacent.

 

As Team #NoComplacency, I think Campbell's message is dead on. "We're good, we're young, we can do this. But it's not gonna be easy, we're gonna have to work twice as hard, nothing is guaranteed or owed to you" is exactly what a team in this spot needs to hear.
