Yeah I think that’s fair, but I think a lot of offenses run into that problem with getting everyone involved. There’s only one football. Like, the Eagles can’t get Brown, Smith, and Goedert all heavily involved every single week. Were the complaints in Seattle just as loud over JSN?

And if we’re gonna criticize him for hitching his wagon to Ridder (justified criticism)…Ridder is the one who needs to get those playmakers the ball! Smith isn’t the one pulling the trigger out there.

I’ll continue the criticism of Smith sticking with Ridder because they wasted so much time in 2022 with Mariota when they should have been playing Ridder so they could properly address QB in 2023 instead of pushing it all back a year. It was likely the biggest factor in Smith losing his job.

But this organization, from the top down, also had a chance to make a move for Lamar and they were vocal about passing on the opportunity in favor of Ridder. It’s a bad look for the entire organization, not just Smith.

Arthur Smith was a good OC. He's a bad HC. Vrabel and Tomlin are not exactly passive personalities either. If Smith is doing something wrong, he'll hear about it

 

I agree, and hopefully Smith going back to an OC gig humbles him a bit. Perhaps Tomlin can help him in that department
