I have so many Eagles thoughts to unload, but I don’t want to overwhelm the thread. I’ll stick with this for now though:

The Eagles offense throughout the Hurts/Sirianni era has been largely run out of shotgun and has heavily utilized RPOs as opposed to under center and traditional drop-back passing. That isn’t to say Hurts can’t do it. I’ve criticized Sirianni enough for his scheme and not evolving it, but Hurts needs to evolve as a passer too.

Hurts is still quick to drop his eyes and scramble. The Eagles can live with that if he looks like the runner he was from 2021-2022, not what he was throughout last season. He needs to be able to sit in the pocket and go through all of his reads, or at least step up into the pocket and deliver a strike downfield. Many times, when he scrambles to his left or right and he throws the ball, it just goes incomplete.

Their play action game is also hilariously bad. It’s run entirely out of the shotgun so Hurts doesn’t have to turn his back to the defense (maybe he prefers that, idk), but that also means there’s no disguising the handoff. Linebackers don’t bite as much on the fake because they see it play out in front of their eyes.

To make matters worse, there have been times where Hurts and the RB are not on the same page at all and Hurts is faking a handoff to empty space beside him because the RB is on the other side of him or is off doing something else already, not to mention there have been several times where they do attempt to fake the handoff, but it looks so half-assed that it’s comical.

I’m open to the idea of Kellen Moore helping Hurts in this department. It’s a critical season for Sirianni, obviously, but it’s important for Hurts too. He needs to take that next step. Dak Prescott gets a lot of shit, but he is a good QB and has shown that he’s a better passer than Hurts. If Moore can work some of that magic he did with Dak with Hurts now, I will be happy.

Thanks! Brought home some starter my mom had and have been working on it. This is my best attempt so far. Others lacked the “oven spring” and were flat. All tasty but ugly and small until this one haha

Jerrod wouldve been so good for Jalen, it kinda hurts me he wont get that chance

hopefully Moore jives with him though and they find success

I’m right there with you. Though, perhaps in Jerrod’s favor, my biggest fear for this upcoming season is the team struggles again and exists the playoffs quickly again or misses them entirely, resulting in the entire coaching staff getting fired.

I think it’s a crucial year. If it works, everyone is probably back in 2025. If it doesn’t, I’d have a tough time seeing Sirianni, Moore, and Fangio all back in 2025.

Im gonna be so mad if Jerrod goes to the Browns and studies under Stefanski with the sexual predator

He should just wait another year if thats the case

    :/

If he waits a year, then perhaps he joins Hurts in 2025 :eyes:

I like the Moore hire. He was on a chargers team with ton of injuries, shit run game, and a coach who was on a hot seat that no one liked. He should be great for the Eagles

I would’ve preferred Kingsbury over Moore. Moore is no bueno to me.

Kingsbury, the guy that when he left the offense in Arizona immediately looked better?

Kingsbury may be the most overrated coach around. Dude is not good

He still has a productive track record with QBs

Not mention it counts for something that Kyler Murray got mvp under him, Kellen Moore is just so underwhelming

Kyler didn’t get MVP? What are you talking about lol

he has a productive track record with QBs because the QBs he’s had have been good, not because of him

Kyler never got MVP and Kliff would have been a dreadful hire for the Eagles

The only reason I’d be concerned about Kellen is because he was the presumptive heir to Staley when he got fired and then wasn’t.

I don’t think Moore is perfect but wanting Kliff over him is an insane take lol

Idk Kellen Moore was supposed to be this next thing and I just don’t see it. Anyone that worked under Staley is someone I don’t trust. Hopefully I’m wrong

Not a bad concern but if Moore doesn’t work out that means the season was a disappointment and the whole regime will be gone lol

I just expected Dak to take a step back under McCarthy and he was a lot of better. And I expected Herbert to take a leap and he went backwards. It’s only one year so we’ll see, Moore has a pretty good resume aside from last year.

Either way if this doesn’t work we’re gonna be seeing a new era of Eagles football. Because I think Howie may end up being on the hot seat

I’m really not concerned about Moore’s success, or lack thereof, over the last two seasons. I think he was scapegoated after his last season in Dallas because Dak threw so many INTs, many of which were flukey. Then in LA, I just don’t think he had much to work with on offense after the month of September

I doubt Howie will be on the hot seat if things go south this upcoming season
