My apartment complex is only going to increase my rent a staggering $20ish if I sign the new lease next month instead of April when current one expires.

 

What’s the catch

 

never played a Diablo game. Maybe I should.

I opt to stay another year and say yes early. I guess.

if I opt not to say yes early then a new lease would be nearly $100 more/mo

 

My plan was to stay another year anyway and hopefully next year move to Seattle area.

that largely depends on whatever I land as my next job. But right now that’s a big fat fuckall

 

@JoshIsMediocre i saw your property tax post and i think one of three things are happening

1. Previous house owners were on a abatement and you are not
2. They are reassessing property values but lowering your rate which will keep taxes the same
3. Most likely they haven’t done a real assessment in years and you are just unfortunately going to be paying more in property taxes

Oh hey thanks for reminding me I didn’t call my mortgage company today

but yeah the house was unoccupied for who knows how long before we bought it, it had been on the market for 4 months when we put in the offer anyway

Just looked up the previous owners name + obituary and looks like he may have passed away in June 2021

Some of the last few places I’ve lived in have had people either die in it or in the driveway, but for some reason aren’t as haunted as the house I grew up in. That house was whack

I personally would prefer to not live in a haunted house

 

The house I grew up in was also the house my dad grew up in and I learned later in my life than I should have that they really were into spiritual shit, seances, ouija boards, and some claimed to be “mediums.”

I didn’t get those genes … instead got the bad heart genes

 

Probably made sense why I slept with a blanket covering my ears at night so I didn’t “hear noises in the basement”

or how I was TERRIFIED of the basement more than a normal little kid would be. And then my mom once locked me down there as a punishment for calling 911 at a hockey rink and I will never let her forget it!
