My mom’s side is convoluted as fuck. My dads side is all Nordic or Northern European

 

The difference with the in your face gambling and the alcohol marketing is that we don’t have shows where people sit around and tell how many beers they’re having and how many beers you should have. Like, they’re both being normalized but the gambling stuff feels more encompassing.

I say this as someone who is excited about online betting going live where I live in a little over a month. But as others have said, I usually make $5 or $10 bets here and there. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who bet much bigger. And they do so confidently because they just watched some nerd on espn’s daily betting show tell them what to bet on.

 

When I went to the casino last time, beads and I got lunch at Hell's Kitchen. And this dude sat down next to us and ordered himself like 5 apps, 3 entrees and a few drinks and was like "it's all comped" and I was just so struck by wondering how much you have to lose at a sports book to get comped multiple filet mingons and beef wellingtons from Hell's Kitchen.

 

I'm pretty much entirely Irish/Scots aside from my last name and the paper trail on that goes cold only like five generations back so we have no clue.

I was about to make a post about Charlotte being a bad sports city. But I don’t want to rehash our never-ending discussion on who is the saddest. So this is not a post about Charlotte being terrible in sports.

 

No it's definitely a sad sports city. You've got two pro teams and the city is most excited about minor league baseball and two college basketball teams that aren't even in the metro

Half the city will argue it’s a Hornets town. Half will argue is a Panthers town. Which means it’s neither. Because they both stink.

Charlotte FC hasn’t been super great on the field (also not terrible). But they are averaging like 32k/game over their first two seasons. People seem more hyped on the soccer team right now. But Tepper pisses everyone off there too lol

 

how much does something like that cost? always wanted to do one of those. probably wouldn't be too exciting since my last name is Smith
