Doesn’t make any sense. He shoulda got resigned mid season. if this front office prioritizes Ridley over Josh Allen I will be so frustrated with that. Maybe the logic is money related - that Ridley’s extension would be cheaper than his tag while Josh Allen’s AAV will probably be right around his tag price.

But I still don’t get it. You gotta respect and reward the loyalty, maturity, and the effort Josh has given this franchise before anything else. Ridley’s been here 1 year and still has some shit to prove. Allen was here all through us sucking and hiring Meyer, was a consummate professional and a team leader the whole time. He has never complained, never gotten into trouble, never had a shitty attitude, always took accountability & showed professional work ethic and discipline, and he has always taken it upon himself to motivate and uplift his teammates. And oh by the way, just set the franchise record in sacks.

A guy who does all that should be resigned instantly. The plan should be for him to retire as a Jaguar and for us to do absolutely nothing that might upset him or his agent during these negotiations. A franchise tag might upset him or his agent during these negotiations.

I’m cool with that hire. Not the flashy name but those don’t always work either. Based on the few clips I’ve seen of him speaking, I feel he merged the culture setter/offensive guru types.

Washington job is a good opening. Pieces are there, get a new QB, new, competent ownership.

An organization that is overperforming a decent amount, has good weapons on offense and defense, and has had 3 head coaches from 2000 to present is pretty appealing honestly. Job security >

The biggest reason I like the hire, it isn’t a Tepper hire.

Like I said before, we’re being sold the idea of Tepper back off a bit. He makes Dan Morgan GM because it’s someone he trusts and someone who is very familiar with the organization and city. Then we hire a HC that, on the surface, is clearly a Dan Morgan guy.

 

They need to bring him into the building and not let him leave until they reach a deal. It's not that hard! Clearly Khan doesn't have an issue giving people money after their offseason when they brought Kirk in.

 

Me too. but if you have to move on from Geno after 2024, the foundation is already set for a new QB.

Thats fair, the league isnt static though, I probably find Washington more appealing than most because of where I think they could be heading with picks, cap, Adam Peters and choice of QB

Stupid question as someone who didn't watch too much of the bills: Was Damar Hamlin actually any good? The one time I really noticed him was on that botched fake punt. I get the point of putting him here like "he went to the hospital during a high profile game and overcame the odds this season!!!!!" but it feels like there are so many better options for players coming back from an injury and playing at a high level (Breece Hall?)

 

personally I’d guess that replacing Geno in the next 18 months is part of the reason they’re switching coaches now too

I probably would too, I just definitely understand the appeal of a job that likely will let you hang around longterm regardless vs a job where you pick the QB but if you fuck it up you're canned on the spot
