But I will also vouch for The Last of Us. 1st game is a classic and while the 2nd game's story is controversial, I loved it. Regardless, with the remakes for both, it's a top-tier stealth game and the shooting mechanics are out of this world. The enemy AI in the second game is insane.

Will throw my support behind Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West as well. Open world game with an interesting story and good combat.

 

Two games I remember loving as a kid was Tenchu and Dino Crisis.
