Gosh I wish. But we had to make a decision who to start when we re-signed Cam. And in my opinion we chose the expensive guy who just is what he is, over the cheap guy who did well in a few starts and we had every reason to believe we haven’t seen his best football yet

that’s a risk. If Cam took another step forward and became consistently good it would’ve paid off but conventional wisdom tells you if a guys not “good” by year 5, then usually that IS his prime and you’re just prolonging the inevitable with an average stopgap at an important position. I know this sounds good in hindsight but to be fair I was saying the same thing at the time as well.

It would’ve been more forward thinking to just go with Little cause he’s on a rookie contract and already played better than expected for a second rounder. And if he doesn’t show you what he showed you in those handful of good games early on, then at worst you’re right back where you were with Cam and you just draft another one, but at least that $22M dollars can be spent on an actually good older veteran like Mike Evans or DeAndre Hopkins if he comes available.

If that’s true that’s *something*… but we’re still paying a non Pro Bowl, interior lineman (one of the least costly starting positions to sign)… who is always injured and getting old… $23 million dollars

Just hard to spin that. He’s getting cut.

That be as it may, Kansas City is still in the AFCCG mostly because an ELITE pass defense made up for Mahomes lacking weapons, and most would point to Sneed as the guy who sets the tone in coverage. Having an average of one 15+ yard penalty per game is a LOT…. But in context of how many 15-35 yard passes he shuts down with his physical coverage. The trade-off is worth it.

That’s fair. Do you take JPJ at 17 though? I honestly think if guys like Linderbaum and Humphrey fall then there’s a chance JPJ gets to our second pick.

(…is Ridley still a 3rd if we tag him, or does that count as “re-sign” and bump the conditional pick up to a 2nd)

Definitely got the sense that Bill to Atlanta was losing some steam after a couple head coach interviews for Atlanta were announced

The only bright side to Sirianni remaining in Philly is Bill’s dumb ass isn’t going to be the HC instead

To be fair that's kind of what we did. Cam was missing the first third of the season, which gave Little the chance to play. Cam only costs us 3.8m to cut this year, we aren't tied down by him at all thankfully.

I think he's gone for sure.

Having Trent McDuffie opposite you also helps an awful lot.

I would've taken Creed and Linderbaum both top 15 but for some reason people don't care about centers. So yeah, I'd probably risk him in the 2nd and take someone of a similar pedigree at 17.

    Ridley is a 3rd if tagged, 2nd if re-signed.

Another issue I have with the line is it seems like we’re just not matching our talent with our playbook. We keep forcibly running Etienne up the middle, but out of shotgun, but we also expect power linemen to block well in space and at the second level… what the hell kind of confused identity rushing attack is that?

If you’re gonna run shotgun and zone all day with a 4.3 speed 210 pound runningback, why wouldn’t you want Walker Little’s skillset more? And why wouldn’t you actually call more B gap, off tackle, toss, and misdirection runs that attack at an angle / to the outside, to take ADVANTAGE of that speed back + shotgun matchup? We need a LeGarrette Blount and an Andrew Whitworth to do what we’re trying to do with shotgun-power hybrid running.

Shit maybe we WILL sign Derrick Henry and it’ll suddenly make sense.

all joking aside I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years there is some sort of oxygen tax and we have to pay for how much air we breathe each day or some shit. I have a 401k and some savings and will probably inherit some money but fully plan on working until I die with the way everything is going.
