This is fair for sure and a gripe I've had with the situation. We've never made a GM + HC hire. Always one or the other. So no one is ever tied to each other nor on the same page

 

people keep saying this and i'm just wondering what world they live in. we drafted a tackle in the 1st and the 2nd, we signed a big free agent guard, we traded for a very good guard. you were literally just saying earlier that we're in a rare position of having two servicable left tackles.

Texans are coming off winning a playoff game in year 1 and CJ Stroud having a rookie year for the ages, very different (and also just a better WR market in general this year, and the Texans having weapons like Tank and Nico that take coverage off a signing and open up the opportunity for more $$$ in next deal as well)

free agent guard had heavy injury history that signaled his decline and we never got his former pro bowl performance out of him once

Cam was overpaid like he’s a top pass protector when he isn’t, thats the main reason I don’t like him

He’s not as good as Linderbaum and Humphrey. I watched some film. He’s still a project in some ways since he only started for one year. His run blocking in a phone booth is elite and he can anchor against extreme size and strength, but his pass pro needs a lot of work, even on his good reps he got away with a LOT of holding

he lives off strength and footwork but the hand usage has got improve a lot

 

How many snaps does Foley play each game? He was a borderline elite run defender for the Jets, but he rotated in pretty heavily.

Playing next to Quinnen Williams also really helped.

But if we continue with the Texans thought, they weren’t giving out huge contracts to players in year one under DeMeco despite how the Texans became a laughing stock and one of the most justifiably scrutinized teams from 2020-2022. They didn’t overplay their hand. They just brought in some dudes and then drafted Stroud. Now they’re in a better position to attack.

The Jags already had the QB. Yeah they were coming off the terrible year with Meyer, but I’d argue the Jags were working with more than what the Texans. In year one of Doug, they blew their load in free agency and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

I do think it’s very interesting how both teams went about it. I think there was a justifiable confidence that the Jags were ready to attack with the combo of Trevor and Doug, but I think they probably should have waited a year before they made some big moves. Though part of it could have been that they wanted to act sooner rather than later given Trevor’s contract. I don’t think what they did was inherently wrong. I just think they could have done a better job evaluating players and signing better guys

 

Bryce Huff is a rotational player, but a damn good pass rusher. Not good against the run.

I'll be pretty surprised if the Jets don't tag (and trade?) him.

 

Not sure he'd help your team but the Vibes would be high I imagine.
