Everyone thought that trade was dumb as hell right away, not even in hindsight… let’s not pretend we didn’t

I mean the price evaluation can be fine and the trade can still be absolutely dumb, ESPECIALLY when spending the pick on Burks

 

It was dumb because Tennessee was competing and traded their 2nd best offensive player. It wasn't dumb because he was worth more. It was dumb because there was no reason to trade him

 

I just genuinely think a 4th / 6th swap for Cam benefits Washington better than trading Brown for a first benefitted the Titans so I’m not ruling anything out just cause it’s slightly unusual

 

Youre right. Trading a 4th for an expensive and aging tackle as you start a rebuild does in fact benefit you as much as drafting treylon burks

 

It was still a mid to low first rounder for one of the best young receivers in the league. Absolutely nobody is surprised Brown became a 1500 yard WR in a more competent offense. It was obvious they can’t get that value back with that pick.

 

The Eagles also traded a third and then signed him to a $100m deal

 

Yeah keep in mind some of us in that chat (me) absolutely did not like Treylon Burks at all as well haha

 

But I also don’t understand what there is to make fun of the Titans for. I maintain that the trade has worked out great for both sides

18th overall for a guy on a one year deal who failed to eclipse 1000 yards that year and barely the first two seasons too. It's not that crazy value wise. It's just crazy contextually

Okay, but you do need to keep in mind that the Titans were extremely run heavy and slow-paced. Brown’s receiving stats alone did not reflect on how awesome he was.

Teams should want the best offensive tackle available when they are drafting a QB and I think he’s better right now than anyone they’d get in the second round or in free agency. Maybe a second rounder could develop into Cam, 3 years later, but if they’re drafting a QB now they can’t wait 3 years to have ONE decent offensive tackle. They just saw Howell regress because they almost set the single season sack record lol

He’s not good enough for me to be excited about but if my team had no backup plan my opinion of him would be very different in context
