murph I saw a tweet the other day with Eli highlights vs the 49ers in the playoffs from 10 or so years ago and I thought of you

 

One of the big reasons the Panthers have spiraled into a bottom of the league franchise is because there have been too many voices in the building - with the loudest voice being the most powerful yet least equipped voice (Tepper). When Tepper decided to hire an outside firm to conduct the GM and coaching search, it gave me hope that he’d actually take a step back and let the football people do their jobs. And then we hired Dan Morgan.

Hiring Dan Morgan, the man who has been in the building as assistant GM for the last 3 years, and the man who has been labeled as “Tepper’s guy” for the last year, will make fans a little weary about the prospects of Tepper being less hands-on. And I was one of those fans when the news broke. However, after just 12 hours and a couple articles written by local writers, I’ve entered full off-season gullible fan mode.

I’m not completely sold, yet.

But taking a step back, and looking at what this hiring firm has done in the past, it gives me some hope that Tepper is restructuring the front office in a way that he feels more comfortable not being as involved. And the person who will be put in charge of personnel decisions, Morgan, is someone he trusts and knows well. One the surface, that doesn’t necessarily equate to being a good thing (lol), but when you also consider Morgan’s history with the franchise, I think it makes more sense. Morgan knows this franchise. He’s been here for a SB run 20 years and now for our lowest point this past season. It doesn’t mean he’ll be a good GM, but I’m coming around to the idea of a total front office restructure, with a GM that is truly committed and connected to the franchise.

AJ Brown for a 1st makes sense. Cam Robinson for a 3rd or 4th does not

 

Your hope should be that Dan Morgan turns out to be his own man, he was a player there and wants to instill pride back into the team/fanbase, and that Tepper backs off and lets him do his job, no meddling

That is definitely the hope. And it’s what we will be sold. We’ll see if it plays out that way.

 

On the flip side they still have 3 strong mid round picks if they give us a fourth for Cam and now you have 3 weapons plus a tackle that can at least be a 2 year stopgap starter so you can develop a young one on the right side
