I was talking about the most recent time we traded for him, which was a 5th and a 7th.

The Raiders one is a better comp because he was expensive then vs. the 49ers one when he was younger and cheaper.

 

i think im more curious if thats actually a good move for their team lol

Yes, I’m sure that a team under new ownership, under a new GM, and under a new HC is making sure one of their first moves is trading for an OT who is not good, owed a handsome amount of money, and is in a contract year

Here's the weird thing.

If you look at an OT in Wikipedia the three stats they highlight the most are Games Played/Games Started/Fumbles Recovered.

...yes? lol We traded for him in his contract year so he was dirt cheap, got elite play out of him, let him sign with the Raiders where he flamed out and traded for him again because Bill knew he could work with him.

 

First thing they’re gonna want is a quarterback, and you generally can’t get quality talent at both QB and T with one first rounder. getting a starting OT outside the draft who’s good enough day one to improve your pass pro situation isn’t out of the question for me.

These debates are always super simple. Randall if they get better than a 5th for him by Pre-Season Week 1, you win and get a day to gloat. If not, we gloat.

 

It is not a new concept that teams with questionable or bad pass protection draft a QB and go into the season with questionable or bad pass protection

Eh, Jags like him more than I do. I’m not predicting I’m suggesting.

 

It is my opinion that a team drafting a rookie QB, that has two bad tackles, better be calling around the league and seeing if any starters can be had for cheaper draft capital than taking a starting T with a draft pick would cost

Yeah maybe they take a tackle at 2 and address QB in round 2 Randall

 

Or tackle at 2 and then trade up for QB in R1 using those seconds

 

On the flipside though Washington is sometimes very dumb

Take a QB at #2 and trade back into the first with a future 1st and those two 2nds and grab an elite tackle and call it a day. Fixed the bonercats.
