I cannot see a team extending him. Again, I think the best chance the Jags have at trading him is if a tackle on another team gets hurt in training camp or the preseason

 

you'd probably have to wait into the preseason then, which doesn't seem logical because theyre going to make a decision on him sooner than that I'd imagine, due to the cap amount he takes up

 

Or a team that just has the space and desperately needs help at OT even without considering injury

?? If anything this is being very consistent I’ve always held that Cam isn’t good enough for starting money unless you’re desperate and we’re not desperate. The tackle we have behind him on a rookie deal is only slightly worse overall (and is better at certain things)

 

You can’t sit there and say “We need to trade Cam because he’s not good” and also say “The team trading for him could lower his cap hit by extending him”

If the Jags won’t extend him because he’s not good, why would another team?

 

We have two decent/serviceable left tackles, some teams go into the off-season with 0 decent left tackles

make a list of teams you think would trade for him and we can go from there

keep in mind FA and draft picks though teams could use to fill OT demands as well as their cap situation

I am curious about this. I don't know what state a lot of teams are in at tackle (I don't pay good enough attention to that)

 

You’re misunderstanding how I evaluate Cam. I never said he was *bad*, I just think an offense who drafted a top QB and is trying to win with offense should do even better

good players with large cap hits get cut in the offseason because there's so much gymnastics involved

if they dont get cut they usually just get dealt for 6-7th rounders so the new team can immediately negotiate a new deal

when you get into preseason post draft though you see 5th rounders or later dealt because they're a year out from having value

If you really want off Cam I think your hope is some team offering a 5th at highest, that has cap space, a young QB they want to protect and is willing to negotiate a new deal with him
