Filling out an OL is hard to do and if I didn't have an average tackle I'd make a pass at him

But yeah teams value mid-to-late draft picks VERY differently than I do

 

yeah I'd spend multiple day 2-3 draft picks on tackles before I trade a single thing for this guy

 

Yeah I just don’t see a team parting with a pick for a one-year rental

this is the angle I’m coming from cause usually teams with terrible offensive tackles do not have good immediate impact answers to that problem and Cam WOULD be that immediate upgrade to “good enough”

I get that we haven’t seen tackles go for a lot but I think STARTING tackles generally just aren’t players teams wanna shop. Vast majority teams don’t have two left tackles who are both capable. The last time a starting tackle moved it was because he was a bust (Josh Jones), Texans traded a fifth round pick for a guy who PFF graded in the 40’s three of his four seasons.

Yeah he’s in the final year of his contract. I could see a team trading for him if he had another heat left on his contract though. Just isn’t good timing for him and the Jags right now. The only leverage they could rely on is a team desperate for a tackle.

Maybe it’s something that happens in the summer though if there’s a significant injury to a starting tackle on another team

 

For what it's worth, that was a pick swap (player and 7th for 5th), not a raw trade of a 5th

Can you call HR for someone wasting your fucking time? Every call with my boss goes AT LEAST a half hour over but can usually go an hour over the scheduled time and it happens every fucking day. like maybe someone would trade an ok day 3 pick for Cam if Jax eats some of the salary (idk the rules) but if he's decent and expires after 2024 why wouldn't the jags just keep him for depth?

This is exactly what I’m looking for, to be clear. Find a desperate team and try to sell them that he’s worth a 4th, and if they don’t bite then keep him I guess.

cause even if it’s a one year rental with a high cap hit, they could be the team to extend him to lower that cap hit. And they’d have early first dibs on a guy who’s better than free agent tackle options, and also less of a risk and less of a waiting game for him to develop, than trying to draft the right guy

I didn’t say the mid 3rd we lost I said any mid round pick could MAKE UP for losing that third

 

Yeah it's definitely an overevaluation by the market standards in terms of what he's considering his skills now vs previously, but he was definitely right about moving on and wanting to get something for him if the plan is to get out from him
