Kirk and Oluokun are getting restructured. Darious could be an extension but he saves 11m to cut right now so idk. Fatukasi and Gotsis are certain cuts and Rayshawn is a likely one but neither can be cut before June. Scherff saves 9 million now but 16.5 in June so idk what we do there.

Something has to be done with Cam. I don't know what they'll do other than not pay him 21 million dollars this year. Then we got like 8 million we can free by cutting randos.

 

They can have Bobby Woods after he gets cut heh

 

I'm kinda on the fence with Jimmie Ward though, hurt too much this season but he did have the Denver INT

probably lean keeping him but we really need better safety depth/play

 

I really think Caserio will be aggressive this FA

The cap is pretty clean, and he can get out of 3 of the largest cap hits in 2025 if those guys regress (Howard, M. Collins, Mason)

Nico is the only upcoming extension candidate to get paid

It's an ideal position to be ultra aggressive

Cut Zay, Fatukasi, Rayshawn, Scherff, try to trade Cam. Parker Washington, Davon Hamilton, and Antonio Johnson replace the first 3, and Cam doesn’t move the needle that much over Walker Little to the point we should be spending $23M extra and also turning down mid round draft picks. Scherff’s just old, not very good anymore, and the biggest chunk of cap we can save so he’s a priority for me to cut and replace in the draft.

If we keep Cam that’s still like $42M dollars saved, already enough for the first year of Josh Allen + one big free agent if Tee or Chris Jones etc ends up available (and we already have enough cap space on the books for tagging Ridley.) if we don’t sign a big fish on the market then we can focus on either keeping our secondary together or outright replacing Ray and Darious.

If we trade Cam that raises that number to $63M and if it’s to a team that has a much worse backup plan than Walker Little, probably nets us a mid round pick to make up for the one we traded for Ridley, which we can spend on another upside OL. Another mid rounder to draft IOL could even make it more plausible to draft T in the first round this year (or CB if we replace Darious). That would also allow us to make a final decision on Walker in his contract year; and if he doesn’t cut it either, then we either already drafted another tackle for competition, or at worst we know in advance what we’re drafting in 2025. The other thing is, the money saved by trading Cam can itself be used to sign 2 of SS, CB, G, DT so either way it opens us up to address other needs.

Since we can only “designate” two players as post-June 1 cuts, I say do that now with Scherff and Fatukasi since my draft plan is to target IDL and IOL anyway. Zay and Ray can be actually cut after June 1 and the way we make this work is by structuring Josh Allen’s contract so his first year money gets spread out as signing bonus while the bigger cap number hits in 2025 (and that 2025 money we can save by grabbing Trev’s fifth year option instead of extending him right away.)

Leave Foye and Kirk’s contracts alone cause both have already been restructured once and they’ll be 30 by the time their contracts are up. Smaller contracts we can cut outright to save a few more million if necessary include Adam Gotsis, Dewey Wingard, and Luke Farrell

Im also okay with extending Darious to lower his cap hit now. He was good enough last season to get another 2 years, and he’s cheaper than the average veteran CB of that caliber. I’m curious to see how he’d do in Nielsen’s press heavy scheme. If we were gonna replace him we should’ve had a strong young CB waiting in the wings already, were not in a position to let CB talent go prematurely.

Maye throwing to Terry/Dotson is a solid foundation on offense. And I could trust Peters to build the line/defense

 

Absolutely nobody is trading for Cam, let alone trading a mid round pick, and CERTAINLY not a mid 3rd.

Foye and Kirk are due a combined 48 million this year and are two of our best players. Extending/restructuring is a no brainer
