So I said “Expecting more from Josh Allen in that game, to me, is expecting perfection or borderline perfection,” and you pushed back with “That’s what it takes to beat Mahomes.“

And now you’re gonna try telling me “No coach is perfect” in defense of the fake punt? It’s okay for McDermott to not be perfect, but not for Allen?

 

I don’t think the Bills clock management before the kick has been discussed NEARLY enough. They kicked that thing with 1:42 and 2 timeouts left. Chiefs were winning no matter what.

 

Idk man, I don’t think people are going to look back on this game three years from now thinking “Wow Allen really blew it there at the end!” They’re gonna remember the fake punt and the missed field goal

 

Right, that’s the other thing. Okay so maybe the Bills score. They only put the Chiefs into a third or fourth down situation five times. They were going to march down that field and do the damn thing

 

It’s more like, the end of the game is what matters. And what I saw at the end of the game was great playcalling but Allen not connecting with his WRs on the few throws that were needed to win. (The first time it was Diggs fault, second time it was his)

 

1st and 10 - 1 yard gain
2 minute warning
2nd and 9 - incomplete pass
3rd and 9 - incomplete pass

I get what Randall is saying about “elite QBs need to make those clutch throws” but I’m also gonna have to side with Dink on WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING THROWING when Josh Allen has been crushing them with his legs.

 

If Allen had like a 375 yard game up to that point I understand saying “why are you expecting him to be perfect” but those weren’t the only throws he missed and most the game he was throwing short. He had 26 completions for 186 yards. So yeah the few times he can make a big time throw to win the game you’d hope they connect. Diggs drop was unfortunate but then so was the underthrow after they drove down the field anyway.

 

The entire game matters, my man

 

Yeah, I’ll concede that Allen could have made better decisions at the end of the game. He’s still not even a top three reason why they lost that game. He’s the biggest reason they were even in it

 

But when it’s that close the whole game, then essentially the 4th quarter is what decides the game & nothing else either team messed up before then matters as much as getting it done at the end

 

You’re gonna make a point about Allen needing to play better with only his passing numbers?

Tell me what his rushing numbers were last night

I would give Allen more grace but you really want to see him nail that throw and have a strong finish to a statement game vs essentially the Bills’ biggest rival

 

Skimming the current conversation, Allen played out of his mind last night, people will remember the missed kick more because that’s how’s it been throughout nfl history

 

He’s done that before but left 13 seconds on the clock.

 

Yeah and I really want to see McDermott quit coaching dumb and scared against the Bills’ biggest rival, but he keeps coming up short

 

12 carries for 72 yards is good but it’s not the point. The point here is he wasn’t under a lot of pressure *throwing* the ball and he had a guy open.

 

A LOT of things went Buffalo’s way luck-wise but the offense couldn’t put KC away, that is also true

 

Again just skimming but if we’re talking about that deep throw that he missed near the end, I think Jones pushed the OL right into Allen’s left side while he threw

 

Dion Dawkins literally bumped in Allen as he threw the ball because of Chris Jones man

 

I thought I saw no contact, but that’s fair

 

And what do you mean 12 for 72 rushing (and two rushing touchdowns, I might add) is not the point? You’re in here saying Allen needed to play better. Just because you’re hung up on the very end of the game doesn’t mean he wasn’t playing damn good ball for most of the game. Again, he’s the biggest reason they were in it that late

 

Yeah look at the clip I just shared Jones is lined up at DE and it’s riiiight as Allen releases, doesn’t look like a ton but could have been enough to alter it
