baker would have had 4K in 2018 and 2019 if he played 17 games. and 2020 was his best season despite throwing for less. this baker season is who he has always been, just a bounce back after the panthers ruined him. and it's hard to say, imo, how much of geno's success was canales and how much was waldron and joseph, as they remained on the seahawks staff this year and geno maintained fairly similar numbers. it seems weird to move from QB coach to passing game coordinator back to QB coach too.

 

Seahawks were also dealing with offensive line injuries. I think both their starting tackles missed significant portions of the season

Edit: Cross only missed a few games, but Lucas missed most of the season

 

idk. he isn't the bottom of the list by any means. i'd rather him than brian johnson lol. just seems like someone who we will be replacing in a year or two again.

I will say, I was very pro Canales until I watched the Lions game and saw a lot of conservative play calls on 3rd & 10 like screens. Came out of that game wanting a little more from him.

I still like him, but that game soured me just a bit on him

 

Just watched both playoff games Sunday

god damn Baker and Josh Allen both choked the game away in the fourth quarter

can’t BELIEVE that bigtime underthrow on second down and that missed read on third down by Josh Allen

You simply cannot do that on your last drive and expect to win. Josh Allen especially man he played extremely well all game but panicked at the end. Big hog but no dog.

 

Josh Allen especially?? He had his team in fg range to tie the game and missed a throw. Baker threw a bad int that cost them chance to go tie the game.

 

Idk, upon rewatching the play, Allen had Shakir in the end zone and they just narrowly missed

Not like it matters. The Chiefs would have walked down the field and won the game anyway

 

I expect better from Josh Allen I think. Whereas Baker’s was more like, welp he was overperforming anyway lol

 

He made the right read but it was not a narrow miss imo. Underthrew him by several yards. Hard as hell to watch cause it was 100% the right decision

Expecting more from Josh Allen in that game, to me, is expecting perfection or borderline perfection

It’s also expecting him not to get taken off the field in favor of a dumb fake punt lol

 

The fake punt didn’t actually matter though, KC fumbled the ball two plays later

Bills had like 3 separate chances to put 31 points on the board

 

McDermott is a football (and turns out, actual) terrorist

 

And like Diggs shoulda caught that bomb but that didn’t matter either they still got to that part of the field

 

That’s what it takes to beat Mahomes. Gotta be great all game but then you still can’t badly miss a throw on your last chance to score

 

Saying the fake punt didn’t matter just because the Chiefs didn’t score on their ensuing drive is disingenuous. It cost the Bills an opportunity to drive down the field and score points in a game they lost by a field goal

 

& the fact that he threw into covered land instead of seeing the two guys who got open on the left side of the field on third down

he panicked under a little bit of pocket pressure and wanted the end zone again too badly cause he knew he missed it on the last play. They coulda had 4th and 2 and had a much easier conversion at the least, to drain clock and score the last touchdown, if he relaxed and took what was open

 

It was 4th and 5. It wasn’t a gimme.

 

I’m not saying it was a gimme. I’m saying they have a hell of a better shot at converting it with one of the best QBs in football than running a fake punt on special teams

 

They did, but in hindsight. Got the ball back immediately without giving up any points. So I’m not gonna blame that for them losing

You can blame the Bills defense for why they lost too. I know they were dealing with injuries, but they were giving up first downs on first and second downs out of the wazoo yesterday. They let the Chiefs walk all over em

 

They still had an opportunity to win at the end, and didn’t execute. That will always bother me more. Lots of playoff games are decided by the QB not getting it done on the last drive. That’s how high the bar is, how hard it is to win.

 

If the fake punt lost them the opportunity to have a go-ahead score then I’d be blaming the fake punt

but sometimes you gotta swallow a bad call you made and bounce back too. That was a BAD one but no coach is perfect.
