I know we all hate Arthur Smith for how he wasted that offense but god damn he wasted that defense too. Nielsen was very good.

  7. Why Morgan?
It’s a bit of an odd look for Tepper to hire an outside consultant firm and then hire an in-house candidate, especially one with close ties to Fitterer. Morgan spent nearly a decade with Fitterer in Seattle and the two are close friends. While Fitterer’s track record over his three years left plenty to be desired, Panthers fans can only hope Morgan has a stronger voice when it comes to his dealings with Tepper but also in making sound personnel decisions. Morgan worked for three years in Buffalo alongside Brandon Beane, one of the most respected GMs in the league. — Joe Person, Panthers beat writer

    What’s the next move?
The Athletic has reported that Tepper is expected to bring in an executive to serve as a buffer between ownership and football. Kansas City Chiefs VP of football operations Brandt Tilis, who has a background in salary cap and contracts, is the frontrunner for the role. That potentially could be a good step for Tepper, who has a long history of being hands-on with football decisions.

This type of front-office structure would be similar to San Francisco, where John Lynch is GM and Paraag Marathe is president of 49ersenterprises and executive VP of football operations. — Person

I know the Falcons didn’t face a daunting schedule (I mean, their own division is a joke), but I heard great things about him and how he finally turned that defense around. I can only imagine he’ll do an even better job with more talent in Jacksonville.

Bummed that it took the Eagles nearly a full week to fire the guy they demoted over a month ago because they missed out on someone that I keep hearing would have been a great fit for them!

Yeah that roster is pretty bad and nearly every instance of allowing more than 20 points was entirely the fault of the offense. 3+ turnover games, defensive touchdowns. Shit there was one game where they went 3 and out on all but 2 drives

    pretty much

if Callahan doesn't even exceed the coaching chops of Vrabel its a net negative (likely)

  18. Pay Higgins a bunch of money when you could’ve just paid AJ Brown a bunch of money.

Tee Higgins has been signed and delivered to about 10 different teams so far

I think ultimately one of the bad teams overpays for him

I'm kinda weary of the FA WR market the more I think about it, but I do really want Mike Evans if he leaves TB

Maybe some good WRs become available via trade

ya'll be throwing the bag at Tee Higgins and Mike Evans and I just want a guy to play consistent WR3 snaps

idk. i'm not sold on canales if it's him. the tampa offense was hardly inspiring this year and, while seattle has had good offenses throughout his years there, his roles there as a position coach for several different groups doesn't really seem like someone ready to step in as a HC in a horrible situation. if it's him, it feels less like a great hire and more like "best we could convince to come to us" and that we lost out on Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik, etc.

If the Falcons whiff on Belichick I kinda hope Slowik takes that Atlanata job if he's offered

I still think he needs another year of seasoning though, he couldn't call shit against Baltimore

he turned Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield into 4k yard passers in back-to-back seasons. Geno didn't look as good this year despite a better team around him.

Canales feels like Kevin O'Connell. All eyes were on Daboll and McDaniel and people underwhelmed but will be pleasantly surprised
