Let us not forget that Mike Maccagnan traded up from 6 to 3 a month before the draft. He didn't even know who was going to be available.

He supposedly wanted Baker Mayfield then Sam Darnold. If they were gone, the pick at 3 would've been ...Josh Rosen.
