1. Try rebooting the radio/sync software by pulling the battery cables and touching them together for a couple minutes then reinstalling.
2. Check fuse #58 under the hood by the battery for a broken/blackened piece in it. At least that's where the usb power usually comes from on newer fords.
3. Might be relay or deeper electrical issue so ask a local stereo or auto electric shop what they'd charge to check before giving the dealership that kind of money.

It doesn't include all of those two. It stretches across small parts of both. A list of the states that are considered rust belt is really misleading and I just looked that up so I get the confusion. Like, Michigan is a rust belt state but probably 75% of the state isn't "rust belt".

yeah the plan is try to the battery disconnect and check the fuses for sure.

It started as a temporary issue last summer when it was super hot, where it just wouldn't come on for 10-15 minutes. Occasionally I could do a soft reset (holding the power and seek forward button for 5-10 seconds) and that would fix it. then the car sat for 6 months or so while I was driving a company truck and it hasn't worked at all since then
