I don't know much about Mayo, why are people so high on him?

Absolutely true, an ounce of success is all I'm begging for at this point haha

Give me literally 70% of a Texans/Indy/GB (or Lions of last year) type season where it will end with some hope in a young team that I can be excited by the potential. It doesn't need to actually be a playoff team at all. Just like, something to give me hope at the end of the year that there can be excitement in a promising rookie QB, young WR's, improving and developing defense, and a coach to root for.

On the offensive side of the ball the most exciting player was arguably Zeke or Pop Douglas. I don't want to be saying that next year haha

He was a really really good linebacker/captain who has been a really good defensive coordinator for several years now.

I thought I saw Mayo was never given the DC role, just ILB coach

Think thats why people have had hesitation, luckily for him though he's familiar with the organization, just gotta see what kind of leading coach he is now

I just love that we're getting guys we all grew up watching now becoming head coaches. Mark Brunell is sure to be an OC this next season too.

He was never given the title but he and Steve Belichick were co-defensive coordinators.

Mayo handled the meetings and the game planning, Steve handled the in game calls.

Yeah he was technically the linebackers coach and "shared" DC duties with Steve Belichick. I don't know who called more of the shots, but I know Mayo was more of the "figurehead" in the lockeroom cause I guess Steve wasn't a big "speak in front of a crowd" type guy

I feel like the defensive success, if needing to choose between only those 2 and not Bill, I would lean Mayo

Him not having the title had more to do with Bill wanting his kid to get credit too, and them being able to block both from leaving for a DC position.

If Dan Campbell is proof of anything it's that you don't need to specialize and call plays if you've got the vibes.

Tell me what I missed Supporter

I'd argue the guy responsible for meetings and gameplanning >>>>>>>>>>> the playcaller, in any HC vacancy

    So yeah go Mayo

It is funny that you have so many current and former players like “Mayo is a leader of men. Great leader. The leadership.” And then you ask them about Steve Belichick and it’s “he did that weird mouth thing on tv”
