Honestly of all the midsize (metro area roughly 2 to 3.5 million people) cities Minneapolis is probably the best except it’s TOO COLD

Portland, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Austin, Tampa, Orlando, Charlotte, Kansas City, St. Louis, San Diego, Nashville, Denver

I think that’s all the cities in this size tier so maybe Minneapolis isn’t the best. I wanna say San Diego, Denver or Portland but all 3 of those are way too expensive for me to live in so I’m slightly biased against them hah

dont go to coachella. we re-did a travel centers there last year and one of our field managers went out to the site bc he thought it would be way better but just ended up hiking around joshua tree a ton.

Milwaukee’s more in that fourth tier of major cities (between 1 million and 2 million in the metro area) but I could imagine it being one of the better ones in that category

I think New Orleans is a clear-cut #1 in that tier though

  15. minneapolis is the second best large midwestern city but most the best midwestern places are college towns

New Orleans and Milwaukee are easily top 5 in this category now that I think about it. Cause like, you’re comparing to Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Hartford, Raliegh, San Antonio, El Paso etc. Way less interesting places imo lol

Louisville is probably up there as one of the best sub-2 million metro areas. So is Albequerque. Most people would rank Las Vegas highly in this category but I wouldn’t.

My wife keeps brings up moving to somewhere in Indianapolis because you can buy a new construction house cheaper than a fixer up house here in MA that has no walls and a curse

But then you have to live in Indianapolis.

if not for the annual threat of complete and total property devastation, i would absolutely move to new orleans. absolutely love that city.
