I remember renting the Pimp My Ride video game on PS2 when I was probably 12 or 13, realizing it sucked, and my dad was like "well let's take it back and tell them the disc didn't work"

Blockbuster survived for quite a while around here bc most of them pivoted big time to video game rentals. Redbox killed blockbuster around here more than the age of netflix did i think.

My dad would always rent the consoles when I visited him on weekends, he did it so many times he might as well shoulda just bought it lol

Instant replay was the one we went to around here. I think there were only 2 or 3 of them. Or Iggle Video which was the giant eagle video rental place.

I didn’t enjoy Scarlet/Violet. Between the technical issues making it run at like 15FPS, the empty open world, I just am over it. I would love a more traditional game again. If black/white get a remake I’ll be all over that but a new mainline entry, I’m so skeptical on.

 

Haven’t played any Pokémon game lasted gen 5 (black and white). What is the vibe of the last four gens?

X/Y I did actually really enjoy, I thought those were fun outside of the absurd amount of unnecessary cutscenes. But the actual gameplay was very fun

Sun/Moon were alright. Same problems as X/Y but more. And the new mechanics in Sun/Moon were kinda dumb

Sword/Shield are probably the most polarizing, you can ask 20 different people and likely get 20 different answers. My opinion is that it had some absolute mechanical garbage, BUT it had a ton of potential...that was just ignored and never really expanded upon

Scarlet/Violet was just ass IMO. Much better with battle mechanics than the last 2, but it ran so terribly and was boring to explore, janky multiplayer, the raid system just sucks, idk just a lot of bad stuff going on

I'm just over them not actually trying to make things better from the last entry and instead doing hard pivots that don't work

 

I also didn't like Legends Arceus at all, the "boss battles" were stupid and the actual battle mechanics were god awful. Exploration would've been cool if it weren't so segmented, and sneaking around to catch stuff was cool but that's about it
