I have an unfinished file on Leaf Green with Blastoise, Raichu, Vileplume, Dugtrio, Arcanine, and Fearow I think. Was a pretty solid team

 

Gyarados actually was cool in the original games cause special attack and special defense are the same thing. So it was a well rounded Pokémon that could learn a bunch of TMs and be a powerful attacker with all of them.

Once they split the two in Gen II they nerfed Gyarados with shitty special attack which made all its water moves suck. and then the later games made it so that every type (including water) has both special and physical moves but it still doesn’t naturally learn that many physical moves so you gotta use TMs to get its full attacking potential. At that point it’s better to use a better physical Pokémon in general that isn’t 4x weak to anything like Gyarados is to electric.

but in the original games, few Pokémon could hit as hard while still defending well and having high HP.

I would love to enjoy Pokemon again but god I just cannot, I had a miserable time forcing myself through the last game (which had merits but way more flaws)

Between that and the draft league stuff with 2 people I think I'm just out forever

 

I was very into Violet for the first few months but have picked it up maybe twice in the last, idk, 6 months

 

I play Go all the time though. Definitely too much.

 

i got sword or shield, i dont remember which, and i was so bummed out by how much i actively hated it. i never had a DS so i never made it passed gold and silver but, i still love those games and PoGo but, yeah new pokemon just isnt for me i guess.
