I also associated gin with summer bc my dad loves a tom collins and i always made those in summer but gin is even better other times of the year!!

i thought i hated it for a long time but realized it was just bc i hated bad tonic water

going to the beefeater distillery in london really helped

 

also i hated tequila for a while bc bad mixers. people complicate it too much. just a basic soda water is best.

 

I’ve basically stopped drinking beer all together too

yeah beer is a no go for me in the house. it doesn't fit in with the iron claw diet.

I’ll have an Oktoberfest when they come out, and the occasional summer shower beer but that’s about it

I like mezcal actually the most.

Flavor wise I like whiskey more than tequila straight up, so much damn variety, but tequila is more "fun" oriented and doesn't give me heartburn or make me feel bloated. My stomach hates me sometimes after one whiskey drink & I automatically can't enjoy it as much as I'd like to.

To make a non-nice tequila bottle more enjoyable, I also am not above doing the shots with salt and lime, shit tastes good idc... so if I'm picking a "well" drink it's DEFINITELY tequila.

Gin is fine, gin and tonics are nice and I do love a good gin like Hendrick's or Empress, but if we're just talking about mid liquor, I definitely prefer an old fashioned or a margarita or a Jameson ginger

You'll notice I didn't mention another popular kind of liquor and I would not miss it if it suddenly stopped being made. You honestly can't pay ME to drink vodka unless you're paying a lot. Skyy, Grey Goose, I don't care it's all shit. It's only utility is in vodka sauce.

 

Said nobody from Iowa ever. There's more flavors of Smirnoff in every liquor store here than total gin bottles. Amazingly, I stumbled upon "McQueen and the Violet Fog" in one HyVee, and another had Drumshanbo Gunpowder, which are both almost absurdly too good to be stocked in this state for their price.

The thing I leanred is to rely on Costco. Their tequila blanco is absurdly good, the french vodka is basically Grey Goose at 50% off, and I'll soon be testing their London Dry Gin (which is basically Tanqueray at 50% off as well)
