i think the most expensive we've ever had was just over $5 a gallon in like 2008 or 2009. a truly terrible time to own a jeep.

My mom bought a diesel Ford F-250 during the Bush administration if that says anything about gas experiences

I think the first car I got for my 17th birthday was a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Not 100% sure on the year. My dad got it from some used car lot and it had an oil leak and didn't last me very long lol.

THen I got my great uncles 1993 Mercury Sable. Once again not 100% on the year but what I remember most was the front seat was a bench style seat, perfect for a HS guy with a girlfriend lol

When that car finally died, got my grandmother's old 1993 Toyota Camry. Thing was a beast.

Then after that an early 90s Honda...think it was a civic but not 100% sure. Got that from my aunt.

Then when that thing died, I got a pretty decent 2001 Honda Accord at an auction. First car I actually spent money to buy instead of a hand me down. This was in like 2014/15 or so, and it only had 128,000 miles on it. Thing woulda probably still been my car today it was in great shape. But unfortunately I got rear ended at a red light by a presumably drunk driver who took off after he slid into me with the side of his car. He was going so fast he mashed my backside to the point that the car was totaled. Still pretty pissed about that.

Took the money from insurance and bought a 2003 Toyota Corolla I found on craigslist. Unfortnately pretty sure the guy ripped me off because I think the odometer was tampered with. So it wasn't running super great, eventually failed inspection for exhaust, and around the time I was trying to get it fixed, I got my current car.

2010 Acura TSX-My brother passed away in early 2017 of an accidental overdose. When my sister called I asked if our Dad knew and she said yeah we're already up here with him. So I hopped in my car and rushed up there expecting my dad to be relatively broken, which he was, but instead of anything about anything, the first thing he says to me is "Hey we're gonna give you his car". I was like uhhhhhh okay thanks dad are you okay lol. My brother had just bought it like 5 days before after trading in a brand new SUV he had bought a few months before that. So that's my car now and because of the sentimental value of it, I'm probably going to drive it into the ground. Maybe when my oldest nephew turns 16 I'll consider selling to my sister, but either way I want to keep it in the family for obvious reasons. It's an Acura so should last me quite a while. Maybe I can make it last long enough to give to my own kid 11-12 years from now lol

I always think about the people freaking out about $4 gas last year or whenever that hit and thinking "man you guys really don't remember 2007 do you" lol. That was a shitton for gas back then considering average wages/inflation

I'll never forget parking in a normal parking spot in my normal car and the person next to me taking up 2 spots with his lifted truck shouting "HEY! I'm gonna hit your car if you don't move" because apparently 2 wasn't enough
