I know they aren’t just some little operation but neither are the other sources I mentioned. PFF being behind a paywall doesn’t automatically make them better. This is a biased argument because you don’t account for the concept that other major organizations might put the same effort into vetting their stats

I read your post. What I’m saying is, NFL, ESPN, Pro Football Reference very well could be doing all of that too.

 

I'm surprised he is back at practice tbh lol but if they clear him, I think he should be limited in how much they let him do. It must have been a somewhat small repair if he's back already.

 

My point was “some of these stats are subjective and organizations will have very different results, you can’t really say one is right or wrong without being biased to a specific organization”

To respond with “no, PFF is the best, the others are invalid” kinda is doing exactly that

 

Being behind a paywall makes them better? When did I ever say that? Nowhere. I never said that. Furthermore the paywall you refer to is still public access, there are mountains of data that are only available to the actual teams. And what other major organizations are you referring to? Be specific. I already mentioned ESPN and their process. Who else? PFR does not claim to do what PFF does nor do they serve the same purpose. Football Outsiders is a much smaller operation as well.

You didn’t say that, I said that. They get the benefit of the doubt more often because people perceive their exclusivity as making them more legit.

1) the NFL itself, which is where most broadcast statistics come from (including the one that credited Allen with 88 pressures).
2) PFR does tally individual advanced statistics, they just don’t do composite grades
3) you didn’t REALLY address ESPN. You said their composite numbers aren’t good. Pass rush win rate / number of pressures is not a composite analytic

If there wasn’t a Stroud level talent at QB I’d be all for Puka winning it. Most years don’t have a rookie QB who’s playing this well. But there’s something Stroud’s doing that basically every other elite QB wasnt able to do that early in their career.

Like, I’m not about to say stats posted on the NFL official broadcast are wrong just because PFF doesn’t agree. That’s all this is about. PFF is a great resource, I agree they do some things that other organizations are not, I do feel like they do their due diligence. But if they have a different number than everybody else for something that leads me to have some skepticism about the objectivity of that stat in general. It’s possible to over-analyze things and get an answer wrong that way too. If a number can’t be replicated by another source then it’s not a scientific, objective fact
