Hell of a show. And of course it’s dramatized but as someone who works in restaurants it’s also pretty realistic all things considered

the only thing I feel like is too “TV show” is how quickly Tina turned heel and decided she wanted to take her job seriously. That would never happen, she would’ve been one of the people dragging the whole operation down until they let her go IRL

there’s definitely a Sydney, a Carmy, and a Richard at every restaurant though. The problem is, the Richard usually runs the restaurant unless the restaurant has a really good reputation

Also, Carmy absolutely turning into a different person and screaming at Sydney, because he has really high hopes / expectations for her when the rest of the restaurant is a shit show and it really disappointed him that she messed a whole evening of service up by leaving to go orders open, is sadly very realistic too

one damn good employee losing their cool and clashing with another damn good employee who just made a mistake and didn’t deserve it, happens more than you’d like it to happen

 

Another note: it’s common for the white head chef (Carmy) to have a better resume because he got jobs he had no business getting early on in his career, and to be very good but too stubborn, but for the black woman backup chef, who has never made more than $50k a year, to be better at quality control and to have ideas that the white head chef often ignores

my current restaurant and my last restaurant were like that

Yeah I worked in a country club restaurant for a bit and, while not having Michelin stars, thought they did, and that shit was BANANAS.
